Error While Connecting to SQL server

  • Hi,

I have SQL server 2000 Enterprise Edition installed on Windows server 2003. Now when the user is trying to connect to the server through query analyser by giving te name of the server lets say serverA using windows authetication he is getting the error "Cannot generate SSPI context".

But when he is connecting to the server by giving IP address he is able to connect.

    Waht could be the problem??

  • Direct  Solution is recyle the MS SQL services and try to connect with the client/server OR the DC must be refreshed with the SPN.

The reason behind is when you change the Service Account properties in SQL Server, the SPN(Service Principle Name) should be updated in the DC (Domain Controler) , it should be updated in the DC. If not you'll get this SSPI context error.
