Hi,
I am getting this error [Error: "SQL BPA command line has encountered a problem and needs to close"] while running SQL Server upgrade advisor for upgrade from sql 2000 to sql2005.
I faced the same problem few months ago but fixed it with creating a new directory called BPAClient
at C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\90\Setup Bootstrap\BPA\ then copied the BPAClient.dll form the C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\90\Setup Bootstrap\BPA\Bin directory into the new directory at C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\90\Setup Bootstrap\BPA\BPAClient then I continued with the install and it worked.
But now i tried many times , uninstall sql2k, re-installed it again, copied files from another server but it does not work, every time getting the same error while runnin Upgrade Advisor.
I dont know if i have un-installed any wrong file while doing unintall sql server from add/remove program.
FYI:I dont have installed visual studio .net 2003.
Thanks
Irfan

Some notes here: http://sqlblog.com/blogs/aaron_bertrand/archive/2010/08/25/sql-server-2008-r2-best-practices-analyzer.aspx as Aaron Bertrand had some issues.
