Hi Gurus,
One more error I'm facing in Enterprise Manager --> Database Transformation Services --> Meta Data, if i click on it, the rightside window showing the following error. I think my previous error and this one could be interlinked.
An error occured while trying to access database information.
The msdb database could not be opened.
please guide me.
Warmest
Jayakumar K.
Thanks
Jay

I am having this problem, too. After researching I find that it has been around since 1999 (+/-) and nobody seems to have an answer. Since we are having problems with log-shipping and the related metadata is stored in the msdb database, and we are getting this error, it seems prudent to investigate this as a part of the solution.
The ONLY advice, other than "don't use metadata" (similar to advice from a doctor when you say "it hurts when I do this"... well, "don't do that"), is to remove "Hot Fix 912812". I am not sure if "Hot Fix 912812" is the same as the MS patch "KB912812"; but if it is, it seems like that advice is malicious, as this patch is a cummulative security update for Internet Explorer.
Someone from MS also suggested it was an MDAC issue between the client and the server; but this is clearly not the case. XP SP1 is at MDAC 2.7 SP1, and Server 2003 SP1 is at MDAC 2.8 SP2, and these are the recommended, latest, versions.
Lots of people seem to have this issue. Has anybody come across a solution?
Thank-you,
David Russell
