I'm trying to use SSIS to import tables from an Oracle DB. The Import Wizard can connect to the Oracle db successfully, but I get the following errors when I try to select the tables and views. I can modify the field types manually, but there must be a better way of handling this. Any suggestions?

Hi
I suspect you try to import proprietary Oracle Datatypes into your MSSQL columns and the data is not compatible without a conversation to a standard sql datatype.
We need a lot of more informations.
Is he complaining about all columns or only about a few ones?
Regards
Mike

It is not all columns, only those mentioned in the error. There are several that are not mentioned, so I'm assuming there is no problem with those. Many of those listed appear to be VARCHAR2, which is specific to Oracle, so I suspect you are correct about the data types causing the problem. Is there a way to define what they should be changed to, without addressing every field listed?

I manually changed the data types, and was able to get past that point in the wizard. When I try to run the job, though, I get the following error:
TITLE: SQL Server Import and Export Wizard
------------------------------
Could not connect source component.
Error 0xc0202009: Source 1 - FMC_AREAS [49]: SSIS Error Code DTS_E_OLEDBERROR. An OLE DB error has occurred. Error code: 0x80040E37.
Error 0xc02020e8: Source 1 - FMC_AREAS [49]: Opening a rowset for ""FMC_AREAS"" failed. Check that the object exists in the database.
------------------------------
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
Exception from HRESULT: 0xC02020E8 (Microsoft.SqlServer.DTSPipelineWrap)
Any idea what this means?

One more update: It seems that when I select only one or two tables, there are no problems. I'm going to try adding the tables one at a time and see how far I get.
