hi
i want to connect to sql server from local,
getting this error:
A network-related or instance-specific error occurred while establishing a connection to SQL Server. The server was not found or was not accessible. Verify that the instance name is correct and that SQL Server is configured to allow remote connections. (provider: SQL Network Interfaces, error: 26 - Error Locating Server/Instance Specified) (Microsoft SQL Server, Error: -1)
Any help?

That is one of two things. Either you can't see the sql server on the network (Can you ping it?) or the server does not allow remote connections. To check for remote connections, right click the server in object explorer and make sure it is allowed.

Open a command prompt

ping [servername]

Talk to your network admin. Your box can't see the sql box on the network.

What are you trying to connect? SSMS? An application? If it is an application have you double checked your connection string? Is it the correct connection string? I can't see your screen and don't know anything about your environment. At this point about all I know if you are trying to connect to sql server and it doesn't work. I need some kind of details to have an idea of what to look at.
