I receive the following error from an application which connects to an SSAS 2000 cube and processes it:
Error Number: -2147221453
Error Description:
"Cannot connect to the repository. Analysis server MYSERVERNAME Error: Unspecified error"
Here is the problem. The code works for months at a time just fine, and then we get the error in the application's log files. Opening SSAS and manually processing the cube works just fine. The next day, the error happens again. In general, we need to either stop/restart SSAS or reboot the server, that the issue clears up for a while. Then happens a few weeks later.
I know the SSAS server and cubes are working properly when the error happens. Connectivity do the server does not appear to be an issue either.
Any insight is greatly appreciated.

Have you migrated your repository to a SQL Server database or is it still in the MS Access database? If the latter is the case I want to recommend that you migrate the repository.

Good idea. Thanks for the advice. Unfortunately, the issue comes up once ever few months, so it is hard to know for sure if it is resolved. At least we could rule out the Access repository as an issue.
