Hi All,
I currently have replication configured on one our development servers. It is working fine for the most part, however there is one issue that is more of a nuisance than anything. We have aliases set up for all of sql servers. The instance configured for replication is named NRSQLID1. If I connect through object explorer to this instance, I can view the replication node and even expand it, however if I try to do pretty much anything else (view properties, etc) I receive the error "SQL Server replication requires the actual server name to make a connection to the server." If I connect using the full path syntax which is physical server/instance (nrsqld1rsqlid1), everything works fine and I never receive this error. We have aliases set up for everyone of our development, test, stage and production servers so it's a bit annoying having to connect object explorer to the full path just to configure replication. My question is: Is there anyway I can change this so I can connect using the alias to configure replication?
Thanks in Advance,
Adam

Based on the error message it doesn't appear that you can. I have never really worked with aliases much so I can't really offer anything beyond that. Now at least the post gets bumped to the front page of the Active Threads page again:D
