Hi All,
Yesterday We got the following error:
Error: 17883, Severity: 1, State: o
The scheduler 0 appears to be hung. spid xx, ecid 1, UMS Context xxxxxxxxxx
We are running sql 2k sp3a on windows 2k sp4.
checked KB 810885, KB 816840, KB 319892
Haven't asked microsoft for hot fix yet.
Will this problem cause screen stuck? and must reboot the server.
Anybody got this problem Recently? How to solve? Please advise. Thanks!
Robert

I got the same error on one of my servers last week. I've read all the KB articles but decided to watch that server and not apply the hot fix yet. The error does not appear to hurt performance or cause system to 'hang'.

Could you post the result from running this?
EXEC sp_configure 'show advanced options', '1'
reconfigure
EXEC sp_configure

I ran the sp on my test server, it shows 37 options. What's the purpose to run this?

Thanks for all responds.
Fromnaija, are you sure this error didn't cause your system "hang"? How do you find the error? just from sql log or event view?
I got the system "hang" then check the error
message to find this error.
If my system "hang" was not caused by this error, I would like to wait and see. If the "hang" was caused by this error, then we must resolve the problem.

The purpose is to post the values (not the count) so we can see them. I'm guessing that some settings have been changed from the defaults.
How many processors on this server?
Do you have statistics on context switches/second?
