Enterprise manager times out while connecting

  hi,

  I have a sql server 2000 at a isp behind the firewall. In my office I have sql2000 client installed, whenever i try to register it, it times out. I am also behind a firewall. Is there any special rules or anything I should add so that i get my connectivity going. If I use SQL query analyzer I am able to connect to my server. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, sam

  EM uses 1433 and 445 to connect and check services. Be sure this passes the firewall.

  Also, you can increase the timeout in the Tools menu.

  Hi,

  Check ur Client Network Utility - Default Network Library. May be u should change it to TCP/IP.
