Hi,
I'm using a Windows 2003 server with SQL Server 2000 with Service Pack 3a. When I go to enterprise manager and click on (local) under server groups, enterprise manager hangs and once that happens, all connections (query analyzer or web SQL connect) fails. I have to end the tasks: mmc.exe and sqlsvr.exe and then start the server again using the Service Manager. (If I try to stop the server after ending mmc.exe, the status of the Server just stays as "Stopping").
If I don't go to Enterprise Manager, everything works fine. Just as a note, I DO NOT have tracing enabled.
I used ProcExp from http://www.sysinternals.com and after clicking on (local) with enterprise manager, I get the following data:
2 new events:
\BaseNamedObjects\Crypt32LogOff
\$SERVER$MSSQLSERVER(2427)_C_READPOSTED
when i look at the threads, i get the following:
RPCRT4.DLLNdrRangeUnmarshall
msvcrt.dll!end thread
Any thoughts/suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks.

Not a solution but some input.
I have a low use SQL 2K install on 2003 Server std edition. have not seen your problem but have seen the SQL Service hang up at random times requiring a reboot of the system.
I run Enterprise manager at my workstation and connect to the 2003 server regularly with no problems.
