I can't seem to get past the "unable to connect to MSX 'server_name'" error when enlisting a SQL2005 TSX with a 2000 MSX. I've made the registry change regarding the "MSXEncryptChannelOptions" value w/no success. In fact, the registry entry didn't even exist.
Anyway, does anybody have any useful information on how to get past this error? What is happening "behind the scenes" that I might research?
Thanks, Bruce

I dunno for sure but I believe that you can have a 2005 MSX and a 2000 TSX but not the reverse as you are trying.

Hi,
I couldn't enlist a SQL2005 TSX on a SQL2000 MSX! The other way round I get an error message, explaning that there is a version conflict. :-S
Greetings...

I'm a liar, now it worked out. Just add MSXEncryptChannelOptions-DWORD with value 0 and everything is fine.
