I am interested in feedback from anyone utilizing Snapview on a Clarion cabinet as a backup solution for a SQL Server cluster. My configuration is a SQL Server 2000 active/active cluster (each node 8 processors by 8 GBs of RAM). The EMC group at the company that I work has allocated us only enough clarion disk space for live database files (primary data files, secondary data files, and transaction log files), but not enough for disk space for backup files. They are saying utilize SNAPVIEW for a backup solution. Thus, we are currently entangled in a debate. Does anyone have experience with SNAPVIEW and SQL Server 2000?

I do not - yet! Attending some training next week, hope to get some good information. As I understand the process, you'd end up with a complete point in time copy, which I guess you could then back up to tape.
