Editing a stored procedure in a SQL 2000 DB using SQL 2005 Mgt Studio

    Hi there

     

    I'm completely new to SQL 2005 and I hope this is a simple answer!

    I have a SQL 2000 database that I've registered on a SQL 2005 server. Now management studio is very different to enterprise manager and when I choose modify on the stored procedure it opens up a .sql file and then i have to save it as a different name!!

    How can I just edit the existing SP using SQL Management Studio?

    you are doing the correct thing, just run you script as normal and close it when you are done. Or  if you want to save the script goto [File ->Save As]

    Everything you can imagine is real.

    Thanks for your reply, I didn't realise that it runs an Alter SP command, I assumed it opened thge actual SP.
