This has happened to me twice so far. I have edited a post, and when I click "Submit" to save the change, rather than bringing me to the normal view of the post (i.e. non-edit), it brings me back to the editor, but the editor is empty. If I click "back" or navigate away by clicking a link in the bread crumb trail at the top, the post is now missing from the main topic list. Since this might be difficult to communicate, the second time it happened I simply re-posted the content as a new post (I had it saved in Notepad++ due to fear of this happening) and left the original in its bad state so that it could be used for research:
The original post (now in a bad state, no content): https://www.sqlservercentral.com/forums/topic/new-blog-import-process-mangles-blog-content/#post-2250316
Before this happened, I noticed that when viewing the post, the "edit" link was no longer available. Not sure if that is intentional or a bug, as I had edited it one or twice already. But, I just added "/edit" to the URL and it took me to the edit screen.
The new post: https://www.sqlservercentral.com/forums/topic/new-blog-import-process-mangles-blog-content-2/#post-2251516

Ok, I am now seeing a pattern of when the "edit" link is available and when it's no longer available. It appears that after 5 minutes, you are no longer supposed to be able to edit a post / reply. While I did circumvent that restriction the second time this happened to me (by adding "/edit" to the end of the URL), I definitely did not do that the first time around. I suspect that the first time around, the "edit" link was available before the 5 minute limit, I clicked on it, and then I went past the 5 minute mark while editing, and then clicked "submit" to save the changes. This is definitely a problem.
Here is the first post that went into a bad state: https://www.sqlservercentral.com/forums/topic/several-issues-with-2019-03-30-site-migration/
I had saved the content in Notepad++, so I pasted it back in and saved. This time the post does show up with the content, and not the text editor (which is good), BUT it is still in a bad state because: a) it does not show in the forum topics list, and b) it does not even show up in my "topics started" list in my profile.
I will repost it as a new topic, and I will try to remove the pieces that I have now submitted separately.

Ok, the 5 minute mark is not the issue here. I just reposted my first post regarding migration issues, edited it maybe 30 seconds after submitting, the edit only took a few seconds, but upon "submit", I was brought back to the editor, this time empty, and the post is nowhere to be found (unless you know the URL). Here is that second attempt, still in a bad state:

I have since reposted AGAIN as https://www.sqlservercentral.com/forums/topic/several-issues-with-2019-03-30-site-migration-3/ and will not even dare attempting to edit it, or even look at the "edit" link.

I think I just noticed something that might be a clue as to what is happening. I think the main post, since it clearly isn't deleted, just "lost", is being converted into a reply. Looking at one instance of this:
Given that the "like" link shows up for the top-level post in the now "bad state" topic (i.e. the original posting), it appears that it is a reply instead of an original topic posting.
Further evidence is that the "topic_id" of the re-post is "2523419" (no "like" link next to that date of that entry), and that value is the same when looking at the URL of the "Unsubscribe" button on that page. On the other hand, the "topic_id" of the top-level post in the original topic is "2523375" ("like" link is next to that date of that entry), and yet the value is "2522811" when looking at the URL of the "Unsubscribe" button on that page. So, it appears that the actual original post (i.e. 2522811) stays in a bad state while attempting to add content to it merely creates a reply (i.e. 2523375) that is then orphaned (more or less; it has a parent, just not a valid one).
