Edit SSIS package that is connected to Server

  • I need to Edit a SSIS package that is connected to the server and is scheduled to run everday night.

I cannot login to that server via SSIS from management studio coz it is not configured as a SSIS server.

But i can login to taht server via managment studio as a DB engine services.

How do i connect to the server and edit existing (deployed) package.

in BI studio i see the option of add form a existing package but i donno how to directly edit that package and save the chnages.

Fisrt thing is this possible ?

    If so how ..

I am thinking of a magical way of connecting to a server via BI studio

Exploring the existing packages and then edit the one which i want

    save the chnages n exit..

Please let me know, what are possible options.

I have 4 hours left to do this.

  • Probably a bit late since those 4 hours have already passed, but how are the packages stored on the server? On the file system, in the package store or in the msdb database?

I'm afraid that connecting directly with BIDS to the package and edit it is not possible :S

Need an answer? No, you need a question

  • Also a bit late, but if SSIS is not installed on that server - then I would think the package is also not installed on that server. If it was stored on that server, it couldn't run on that server.

So, you need to find where that package is actually stored and run first. Once you have that, create a new SSIS project and add an existing item to the project. Then, you can navigate to where the package is stored and add it to your project.

Edit it and redeploy back to the destination.
