DWH'ing from scratch

  • Hello,

We are looking to build a data warehouse from scratch.  I was curious to know if someone might be able to point me in the right direction of a solid certification program for this?

  • Thanks for posting your issue and hopefully someone will answer soon.

This is an automated bump to increase visibility of your question.

  • Maybe I'm a bit old-school, but I'm still a big fan of dimensional modelling based on the Kimball methodology.  I believe the Kimball group now operates as Decision Works, and they have some learning resources:

As for certification, just remember that certification is neither necessary, nor sufficient, for someone to be proficient in their work.

    +1000!

RBAR is pronounced "ree-bar" and is a "Modenism" for Row-By-Agonizing-Row.
First step towards the paradigm shift of writing Set Based code:
________Stop thinking about what you want to do to a ROW... think, instead, of what you want to do to a COLUMN.

Change is inevitable... Change for the better is not.

  • I started with Kimballs 2nd edition The Data Warehouse Toolkit.  Taught me all I needed to know.
