DTS performance issue...

6 to 12 mill records export SQL to SQL
HD space Fine (75 Gb free)
Memory 1.7 Gb used by SQL
No Blockes
CPU @ 50% and used by SQL...SQL is working hard at something???
Network trafic is below 5%
Nothing else is contending for time on either server
The problem: Sometimes this DTS package will run in 2-3 hrs and other times days (2). I have not been able to locate what causes this. Any sugestions?

What method are you using to move the data?

A transformation task from SQL statement to a table with batch size set at 2000 and always commit set true. All other settings are default.

Any indexes set up on the destination table?
Do you have transaction logs for the databases? Is it possible the transaction logs are having to grow several times repeatedly?
