Hello,
I'm having a problem using DTS, I receive the following error in a message box entitled 'Initialize Com:"
"Could not create an instance of the DTS Package."
I'm using SQL Server 2000 with SP3a and windows xp.
Can anyone tell me what may be wrong?

What are you trying to do when you get this error? It looks like a permissions problem when saving the package????

Thanks for your reply, I get the error when I use the DTS Import/Export Wizard to transfer data, source and destination databases are located on the local server. I receive the error message when I try to run the package.
Re-installing sql server 2000 and sp3a didn't fix the problem...

I would check the options right before you run the package that says do you want to save or just run now...... and NOT save the package

I am also getting this exact error under the same circumstances.
I, however, am not choosing to save the package. I am simply having it run now.
Nuno, did you ever discover the answer to your problem?

Hi, I also got the error even choosing not to save the package.
After trying many things I resolved the problem by formating the machine.
The problem was with registry permissions but I was unable to solve it.
Good Luck
Nuno
