Hi,
Lately I had the following message on win2000 sp3 with sqlserver2000 sp3: "DTS Designer Error - Specified file not found" "DTS Designer Error - Fichier spécifié introuvable" in French... Then in the DTS editor the Task menu objects are missing and it is no possible to link a source and a target using Transform Data Task.
Before it used to work fine.
I have done the following:
- installing again last sp: same issue again
- reinstalling sqserver with a registry deep cleaning: same issue again
- started disabled windows services: same issue again
any idea? could you tell me please which are the windows services used/most used with dts/sql server in order for me to check if they are enabled or not.
Thank you for your help

Hi Sébastien,
just experienced the same problem with the german version of W2K SP4 and SQL Server 2000 SP3a.
Not that this will help in any way, but... you're not alone 🙂
Also hoping for help!

Hi Sébastien,
yesterday I tried a clean install of MS SQL Server 2000 on a WinXP Pro machine and got the well known problem. On this machine I could solve it by taking the following action:
- right-click "Properties" on the "Data Transformation Services"
- activate "Cache" (first option)
- activate "show multi phase pump task in DTS-designer" (or something like that, just did a straight translation from german to english:-) )
Maybe this helps!
Greetings,
Carsten

Hi Carsten,
Man you are a Killer! Indeed the trick works perfectly.
1000 * thanks!
It seems that it could be a sp3a bugs/issue ...
Best regards,

Hi Sébastien,
no problem! I nearly got nuts with this bug 😉
But I don't think that it is an sp3a issue, because I had the same problem with a plain SQL Server 2000 installation without any sp. I suspect a hotfix/fix for Win2K or WinXP
