Much simpler fix for me.

Modify plan, edit backup task, don't change anything but select the OK button, save plan.

Under General Configuration Properties in visual studio to target your version of SQL Server . you can find the sql server version in SSMS 'SELECT @@version' .

finally this worked for me.

This is a question about SQL Server 2005, TargetServerVersion was a feature added in SSIS 2016; long after SQL server 2005 was out of support.
