Hi,
I am trying to create a system DSN on windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit machine for SQL Server 2012 64 bit which is residing on Windows Server 2012 64 bit virtual machine on the same PC.
When I am giving server name WIN-QJN3JSB43IF\GIRISHWIN2012 (I got when I said select @@servername in query analyzer) it is saying :
Connection failed:
SQL State: '01000'
SQL Server Error: 11001
[Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver][TCP/IP Sockets]ConnectionOpen
(Connect()).
Connection failed.
SQL State: '08001'
SQL Server Error: 6
[Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver][TCP/IP Sockets]Specified SQL
server not found.
Virtual machine is in Oracle VM Virtual Box software having network bridge DHCP enabled. When I tried to give fixed IP, I am not able to ping it i.e. suppose I says 192.168.201.NN and tries to ping i am not able to ping neither DHCP nor non-dhcp.
The surprising thing is I am able to ping from VM (Windows Server 2012) to other PCs fine, but not reverse; so I guess it may be issue; not sure, please help me.
Thanks and Regards
Girish Sharma
