Dropping Connections

    Hi,

    Have a SQL 2000 standard running on 2003 server on a HP ML 350 G3 server with 5 disks raid 5 and 1 gig of ram.

    Used for application running on 25 odd win 2k sp4 machines.

    App continuosly updates database 24x7 using System DSN (ODBC connection).

    But intermitently app loses connection with the database. How do I know if its SQL that is dropping connections and if yes why???

    Have you any error output(s) which you can share with us?

    All the client win2k PCs have a event logged by the application in the application Log.

    "The datasource HPLC-GC-DATA has disconnected unexpectedly. Reconnect was successful."

    The above error is very frequent on some pc's while only once or twice on some pc's.
