  hi there,

  we have sql 2000 standard and want to upgrade to sql 2000 enterprise.   it looks like the only way to do this is to purchase sql 2005 and use the downgrade rights.  

  would we have to purchase sql 2005 standard or sql 2005 enterprise?

  Why not just get the 2005 Enterprise edition for a better developer experience and everything else that come with it.

  But probably the best advice for your question will come from the M$ Licensing experts, I would get in touch with them if i were you.
