Sorry for the x-post, but no replies were given ..
We are moving to a new domain. Our old domain will keep on existing and there has been set a full #-domain thrust.
I can connect to all my sqlservers (7.0, 2k) except to my virtual sql2k-s !
(sp2 & sp3a) (TCP\IP)
I connect windows authenticated and having the needed authorities.
When I connect using the virtual win-servername and portnumber it works. (myvirtualserver.myolddomain.com,5678)
When I connect using the virtual win-servername and the instance name it cannot connect ! (myvirtualserver.myolddomain.com\mysqlserverinstance)
(even with connect-timeout=0)
When I create a ip-reference in my client's hosts-file, it takes a while, but it works.
DOS tracert also takes a while unless I use the -d (no naming resolution) parameter.
What shall I do to solve this problem or where to look ?

When using SMSnetworksniffer, I can see that all sql2k servers return the FQDN, but my cluster-instances do not !
Now I have added our old WINS-server to the client's wins definitions and it works again.
Is this a sqlcluster bug ?
