Does VS.NET 2003 take advantage of SQL 2005 CTP ?

  • Sorry for the newbie questions, I am completely new to Yukon.

I connected to remote SQL Server CTP 2005 through Visual Studio 2003, and it sees it as SQL Server 2000.

Server Properties->Type-> SQL Server 2000 Database

Is this because I need VS 2005?

Also, in the connection I don't see all the tools, such as Notification Services, etc, like I do in Yukon Management console. All I see is just database connection. I can I view the whole toolset in Visual Studio ?

    Thanks

  • VS 2005 is needed to correctly identify SQL Server 2005.

And you need the SQL Server 2005 Management Studio to access all the new services. Infact, the 2000 Enterprise Manager can't do much with 2005 server.
