Hi,
I'm installing SQL Server 2005 and at the end of installation I have noticed Visual studio 2005 in ALL Programs list. So this Visual studio 2005 is required? Is this a must thing to install for SQL Server 2005 to function?
thanks

The VS2005 you are seeing is BIDS for SSRS, SSIS and SSAS development, it cannot be used for .NET development, if you need .NET development you need to use the Express or buy one.

I think we do not need to install the Visual studio 2005 on production server and it's only required on Developer machines right?
and also Books online and workstation components are getting installed even if I selected NOT to install by going to "advanced options" while installing? I tried this many times but every time Books online and workstation components are getting installed ? I did not understand why this is happening?
please advice
thanks

Yes you could remove VS2005 but the workstation components includes management studio so that may the reason for that install.
