Hello,
I know there is a way to do schema comparison between two databases. As BI developer, I do not have the tool except SQL Server Business Intelligence Studio. However, when I talked to our SQL Server DBA if he has any tool at his end, his reponse “Sorry, we do not have any tool” . I thought SQL Server has a tool do perform schema comparison? Is there any free tool out there I might try ?

Red gate offer a tool for comparing SQL Server database schema, its very well priced at $245 too
I'm not aware of any free tools, although (and without wanting to sound like an advertiser) $245 is pretty much free!

Thanks Samuel , thanks for your suggestion. This comparison will be done only this time. We do not have budget to spend that kind of money. This is non-profit Org. I am quite sure that MS SQL 2005 has this utility, I would think I need to convince our volunteer DBA to spend sometime to figure this out. Any thought on this?

If you're a non-profit org then it might be worthwhile having a nice word with red-gate 🙂

Redgate provides a fully functional trial version that lasts for 30 days. Who knows - if you download the trial and show it to the right people, they may just like it enough to purchase it.

I realise this is an old post but if anyone is looking for something like this then I have developed a software tool that will perform schema comparisons between two databases and it is available for free as a beta release.
You can download SQLC here http://sqlc.azurewebsites.net/[/url]
I am still actively developing this tool as a beta release so if you find any bugs then let me know and I will fix them as soon as possible.
