Hi all, I am told that full backups definitely do not affect Log shipping, but what about Backup Log?
Thanks,

Yes, doing a backup outside of the logshipping process will cause a break in the log chain causing restoration problems on the secodary, until you restore the logs or do a re-initisalisation from a full or differential base.

Is there not a clause in Backup Log that avoids breaking the LSN chain?

No, not for SQL 2000
If it was 2005 or above you could add in the COPY_ONLY clause.

The question then becomes, what's the reason for taking a copy-only log backup.
