Does anyone using snapshot isolation for Sharepoint 2007 databases?

  • Hi, we have Sharepoint 2007 databases having deadlocks and blockings all the time, I think due to some custom applications on it. We can not edit queries and stored procedures, snapshot isolation can fix the locking issues, but I couldn't find info if SI is eligible for Sharepoint. Any comments on this?

    Thanks.

  • It isn't something I would do lightly or without appropriate testing as you may invalidate licensing??? I would check with the Sharepoint Team maybe post something on their forums.

    Thanks

    Chris

  • Any more ideas?

  • I'm guessing this is related to search crawls?

I opened a very expensive ticket with MS on the issue and tried to make them fix this issue.

    They won.

They have retry logic. You have to ignore the deadlocks because they won't let you fix their junk.

We set up a seperate monitoring pool for the instances we installed SP on that ignores those things and some of our other policy based management policies.

I didn't like it one bit, but that's what we ended up doing.
