We're an engineering firm that is looking into document management. We've got offices worldwide, and some of our documents are blueprints or other sizable image files. Has anyone out there had a good or bad experience with document management software?

Thanks Steve. I believe that we're going to have to find something more robust than SharePoint Portal Server. If anyone can find it, Slashdot can. (But the quality of opinions are higher at SQLServerCentral of course.)

You are welcome.
I have used the FileNet products, but it's been 5 years. They worked well. Not so great for versions, but great for images.

Hey, one more note. I just started with a new company and we use an Optika solution for something. We have an older version scheduled for upgrade this year, but I'll try to see how it works. I know the Operations group (where I work) doesn't think much of the old version from a support standpoint, but I'll get with the other group and see what I can find out.

Thanks Steve. I'm currently researching Xerox's Docushare, Adobe's Filemaker, Panagon IDM, and Hummingbird's DOCFusion. I'll post here if one of them turns out to be head & shoulders above the others.
