Yep I use it but sometimes people get carried away with their posts...Don't really care when other people wake up or go to bed...
The same goes up for Twitter...

The thing is, with Twitter and Facebook, you control who you watch. You might care what some people are doing, might not. However it's the same as people you meet in your neighborhood or in the hallway. They share something you might not care about.
That's socially interacting with people.

All of my family use Facebook a lot. It's good fun as well as providing a platform for some interesting debates.
I also get to see what my grandson (nice to see a few grandparents on here) in Australia is up to but will use Skype to talk face-to-face with family and friends.
I'm not too worried about privacy. I use Google too π

Facebook is awesome for retaining a link with distant relatives. I have cousins in Canada and Hong Kong (and family scattered all around the UK) and FB lets me keep abreast of the important points in their lives - marriages, births, graduations, house moves etc. so when I eventually get the opportunity to visit I'll know a little of what they've been experiencing since I last saw them. And in some cases I'll know what they look like which might influence the itinerary π
It's also bl00dy marvellous for sports participants - sharing experiences, swapping photos and kit, offering/receiving help, organising events. This aspect of it goes way beyond the capabilities of a forum.

Some of the tricks that the owners have played from time to time with terms and conditions and with privacy features buried so as to be almost impossible to invoke I wouldn't trust anything to that site, so there's little prospect of me ever having an account (except perhaps using completely fake data and a disposable email, if there's ever a good reason for it, which seems unlikely).Ditto again. The thing I hate about Facebook is that if I join and then decide to leave, I can deactivate the account, but it will take me moving mountains to actually getting it deleted. That's (and the above) are the biggest reasons I don't want to have anything to do with it.

not too bad so far
Facebook annoyed me after they started messing with news feed filtering right about the time they started to get popular with businesses

Facebook is a good way to slightly interact with relatives and others that you don't really want to have that much to do with while keeping up the illusion that you are staying in touch.
