I have sql 2014 RTM need to upgrade it to latest and greatest. So can I just download the latest cumulative update or do I need SP 1 AND then the latest cumulative update? Appreciate it.

You can just download the latest CU and upgrade with it.

You can just download the latest CU and upgrade with it.
Are you sure? The following text appears on the CU5 page:
"This article describes cumulative update package 5 (Build number: 12.0.4439.1) for Microsoft SQL Server 2014 Service Pack 1 (SP1)."
Notice how SP1 is mentioned explicitly, as if it is a pre req for the CU.

So which one is it? =) I think I will go down the SP 1 first then the cu route. It doesn't hurt I guess to go down the old traditional route. Appreciate the help guys.
