Dear Experts
Just a quick question in regards to the cube access?
Do we need to buy sql server licences for the users who wants to access cubes through excel?
I have created SSAS cube in our company. In order to give access to other users so they all can access cubes which i have created via excel i have created Roles
and i have include 10 users in that role. Everyone can access it now it works perfectly fine but my manager seems to think that we needs to buy more licences of SQL server
and i am saying we don’t need to buy any licences ?
Let me if you don’t agree with me.
Your quick response will be much appreciated.
Thanks,
Amit

Realistically, without knowing your set-up anything you're told over the internet is going to be at best a guess.

Sounds to me like your manager is talking about CALs (Client Access Licences)

i think u did not understand my question. I just want to know if users in our company wants to access SSAS Cubes via excel. Do we need to buy licences for them. At the moment i have created roles in the cubes and have given them access and it works perfectly fine but my manager seems to think we need to buy licences for our users but i disagree.
Could you please provide your feedback if you know the answer ?

amit

That depends on how you're licensing SQL Server. Read the links I provided.
