I have an instance of SQL Server 2005 SP2 with out full text indexing installed. I then added the full text feature, which it installed from the original disks. Do I need to reapply SP2? I know that you had to with SQL Server 2000, but when I try to apply SP2 with SQL 2005, it thinks the instance is up do date.
So is this no longer necessary with SQL Server 2005

The link above explains the re-release of SP2 (GDR2) but it still doesn't answer my question. After adding a feature to the database engine (Full text search), do I need to re-apply any service packs?

I know when I have added reporting services to 2005 I have patched again and the patch knows to update reporting services only, but fulltext is installed as a service on initial install and would be patched whenever you patched upto SP2. Run the service pack and see if it picks any 'new' features, if not simply cancel out of the install.

It doesn't find anything to update, so does that mean I'm fine?

I would say so, it is wise enough to check and see if anything needs updating.
