DMVs: are they worth the effort?

  • I was expecting there to at least be a few comments on this one.

    I, like you, have found that the DMVs are useful. I find that, despite some of the problems, I can get relative performance information faster and easier through the DMVs in many cases.

  • I would have to agree on both counts.

    I think this book will be one to buy - we just don't have a lot of information on using the DMVs, and I think that this will be quite useful.

    If you can't explain to another person how the code that you're copying from the internet works, then DON'T USE IT on a production system! After all, you will be the one supporting it!

  • I don't think my cause was helped by forgetting to take the editorial out of "draft" mode. It meant that until yesterday the editorial wasn't visible and the "discussion" link didn't work. :ermm:
