Hi All,
Usually how much data does DMV's Hold and how often the data from DMV's gets cleared. I was under the impression when ever the SQL Server starts or machine (server) starts the DMV's holding the information will get cleared, is this right if I'm not. Can any clear me with this issue.
Thanks,
Ravi S.

Hi Ravi ,
you are right , DMVs are virtual view it does not have its own data. it has limited data access.
Some DMVs takes data directly from query Plan Cache. So when u resart sql server. Server flushes all Cache query plans.
Thats why Dmv gives No record.

Depends on the DMV. Different ones have different rules. Check the entries for the DMVs in Books Online for details.
Some hold limited data, some don't. Some reflect only current data, some have historical since SQL started. Different for different DMVs.

Hi Guys,
Do you have a link with DMV queries? I remember that I have found on this website a link with all the dmv explained per day, but unfortunately i can't find it anymore.
