I'm writing an app using DMO to extract basic info. about my servers. (part of a change control app).
A key element in this is being able to ascertain the service pack level of each level. I can extract the Version Number (7, 8 etc) no worries, but can't find a property that will report the sp level, (and yes I know this is part of the version string)
any ideas?

Unfortunately Microsoft does not have anything that says V7 SP3, you have to go and get the list of release versions and compare to version string to determine.

Column8, would you mind posting or sending me your DMO code used to scan for the differences of SQL2K and SQL7. I am new to DMO and I am trying to scan the network for instances for licensing issues.
Thanks -

Just DMO won't be enough, servers don't have to publish themselves so you could have a hidden server running SQL. Haven't thought about a good way to find ALL of them!
