Distribution database not able to access

  Hi All,

  Its my production server, till yesterday I was able to take the full backup of distribution database. But today even Iam not able access it, and can not take the back.

  Error:

  while connecting: Could not locate entry in sysdatabases for database 'distributor'. No entry found with that name. Make sure that the name is entered correctly.

  while taking backup sqlmaint.exe failed. [SQLSTATE 42000] (Error 22029). The step failed.

  Can someone pls tell me what all are the causes for this, and best way to resolve this issue.
