Hi I have replication set up between two servers, but I notice every time the job named "Distribution clean up: distribution" (by default) runs on the distributor, I get blocking issues where sp_MSadd_distribution_history called by the subscriber is being blocked by sp_MSsubscription_cleanup running on the distributor. I have to go manually and kill the blocking and after that everything runs fine.Can anyone shed any light on why this is happening and what could be the solution for this ? Thanks

This is by design. This job by default runs every 10 minutes. How big is your distribution database? If possible try to schedule the job to every 30 minutes. Usually in our environment it becomes the dead lock victim.

my distribution database is only 16GB... but my prob database is 380GB in total...it don't happen every day its to random... by default it is set to run every 10 min. I will change it 15 min... thanks for reply i ll keep you update...

Every so often my cleanup job will fail as well with a deadlock. Nothin you can do about it really.
