I wondered if anyone had a very detailed and comprehensive disaster recovery questionaire that I could use to get full business requirements from my client that wants me to create a disaster recovery plan. If it can be inclusive of questions on concepts like hardware failures, software failures/updates that cause issues, server failures, network failures, etc. that would be great. If not, I will come up with anything that is not on there but would like to have a good head start if possible. 😀
Thanks!

Hi,
I think disaster recovery itself is very deep. I mean it can't just be explained in some lines. Just like you said, there are vairous factors you need to consider before effective disaster recovery planning. But I can suggest few books that I read while back...
1) Pro SQL Server Disaster Recovery
2) SQL Server 2005 High Availability

There is a difference between Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity. You need to define which your client wants to do.
Iron Mountain Records Management has very good white papers on both issues (though you'll probably get a sales call after requesting them).
Also, I sometimes do a course at local SQL Saturdays covering this very topic. Check out my website http://www.brandietarvin.net and click on the "SQL Articles" Link in the left sidebar. Third presentation down is Disaster Recover: Preparing for the Storm. It's a high level overview on what you need to think about for the entire business (not just SQL Server).
If, after looking at that, you have more specific questions on the topic, let us know.
