Disabling Reports in 2005 and 2008

  • Hi,

I want to know if it is possible to disable reports on the report server in 2005 and 2008. I am doing migration from 2005 to 2008 and cannot allow reports to run from both the servers. Stopping the reporting service will not be an option since we have large number of reports and it will take time for applications to be updated to point to the new server.

    Thanks

  • I would suggest changing the connection properties off the report you want disabled so that it gives an error when run, or moving them to a folder the user do not have access to.

  • Hi,

Thanks for your reply. What I really want is that once the reports are put on the new server, the reports with subscriptions on them remain inactive, since I dont want people to get the emails from same report on 2 different servers. For reports that are accessed by application , I am not that much worried since they will not be used till the application points to the reports on the new server. Hence I want to disable the reports and I am looking for some way to do it.

  • Hi there

On the schedule of the report there is an end date. This is when the report will stop auto run. You can set that to a date you see fit. This is also possible with a query on the "Reportserver" database if you need to do a whole list off reports.

  • Or if you have them on shared schedules, you can disable the shared schedule.
