An auditor stated the following:
Disable SQLAgent.Enabling unnecessary services will increase the risk of abuse by malicious users.
How can you run jobs if the SQL Server Agent is disabled?

The Sql Server Agent is a very important service that must run for the instance, like you mention at the very least, to be able to run Sql jobs. I would question the auditor and ask for an exception.

Why not disable SQL Server altogether? This way it's much more secure 🙂
Obviously, the auditor has no idea what they're talking about.
