Difference between SQL Server Client Tools

  • Is there any difference between client tools installed using standard and enterpriese enditions?

Any input will be greatly appreciated.

  • I don't know what the "technical" answer is but I can say that the client tools I'm using now installed from Enterprise are identical, functionally, to what I used with my previous employer from Standard.

  • The client tools are the same.

  • I think the only one that has differences in the client tools is the Express Edition (which has a customized version of SSMS). Otherwise - I believe the tools are the same.

Your lack of planning does not constitute an emergency on my part...unless you're my manager...or a director and above...or a really loud-spoken end-user..All right - what was my emergency again?

  • I have 2005 Developer Edition installed on my laptop and use SSMS to administer Standard & Enterprise with no hassles.

The only issue I have come across is in different versions. I had SP2 installed on my laptop and one of the servers I was administering only had SP1. Went to edit the maintenance plans and they got FUBARed, had to recreate them. Until that server got upgraded, any fiddling I did with it was done on the server, not from my laptop.
