Difference between Linked Server & CMS

    I am planning to automate different servers. I m confused between Linked Server & CMS. Please guide..

  • Linked Servers are not typically used for management and automation type tasks like CMS (Central Management Server).

    CMS provides a "central" repository/group of servers to which you can administer/manage.

    A linked server is just that - a link between one server to another so that the first server has access to data in the second server.
