In addition to that article, you will have a hard time finding some of the other cool additions/changes.
SQL Server 2012 had a huge overhaul with extended events. Lots of additions, tweaks, modifications made to various aspects of extended events. This is a really good thing!

2012 was a nice release. AlwaysOn, Extended Events (as Jason mentioned), Full-Text Search got enhanced, Service Broker, a few other things.
