Device offline

    Let's say we have Servers A and B, and an external device. Whenever I execute a backup on server A and directed to external device, it succeeds. But when I executed backup on Server B and directed to external device, it fails and returns the following error:

    Cannot open backup device 'external device'. Device error or device off-line. See the SQL Server error log for more details.

    What could probably the problem?

    Not sure what you mean by an external device, but one possible cause could be permissions. A second could be a network error or problem with the network configuration.
