Device error/ Device off-line during restore attempt

    Has anyone seen a similar error message to this one:

    "Cannot restore database.... Device error/ Device off-line during restore attempt... abnormal error will shut down SQL."

    I see the device is working when I try to access it through ArcServe, but for some reason, my SQL 7.0 won't see it.

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Did you do a backup to the device using SQL Server commands?

    Is the device seen by your hardware (computer/server)? Right click on the My Computer icon, select Manage, select Device Manager. Is the device listed? If not, use Add/Remove Hardware to find it.

    You can also try rebooting the server that SQL Server is on.
