We have a live production server that slipped through the net as Developer Edition of SQL Server! This now has some performance issues...
What is the method to upgrade this server to Enterprise edition?
We are trying to work out how this happened. Could it have been when one of our staff removed the Operatign System service pack and reinstalled it?

Edition upgrade can be done in SQL 2000 following the steps given in books online. YOu will have to run the setup and follow the steps given there.

Developer and Enterprise editions are similar feature-wise. The only difference is licensing. If you're having performance issues running Dev. edition, you most likely would have the same issues after the upgrade.

From BOL:
SQL Server 2000 Developer Edition
Used by programmers developing applications that use SQL Server 2000 as their data store. Although the Developer Edition supports all the features of the Enterprise Edition that allow developers to write and test applications that can use the features, the Developer Edition is licensed for use only as a development and test system, not a production server.
