I've just started review how we might implement Reporting Services in our organization. I'm wondering how we should consider configuring the software. Should we install reporting services on our SQL Server machine, or should it be on its own machine? I suspect we will have around 300 users of reporting services. But only a handful of those will be active users (say 30 active users). Of these active users they will be using it everyday but will not be using all day. They may get 1-5 reports a day. Only a real small amount 1-10 will be using it all day. So I'm wondering if someone could advise as to the resource usage and drain on SQL Server resources if I install reporting services an the same machine as our production sql server. Understand we are only running about 20-40 % capacity on our SQL Server machine.
