Hi Fellow Forum Members,
I would be extremely grateful if someone would inform me of the effect of removing Windows SQL 2008 from my Windows XP SP3. My problem is that my laptop has a RAM of 1.24 GB out of which about 600MB is used by Win SQL 2008. With other programs that I use regularly, there is very little free RAM left and my laptop runs very slowly. Can I delete the program? Will it affect the stability of my laptop? Finally, what is the software responsible for on my laptop?
Thanks in advance for any information.

If I understand you correctly, you want to uninstall SQL Server 2008 right?

Depends why SQL was installed. If it was installed to support some other app that's on your laptop (and a lot of apps use SQL Server Express), then uninstalling it will break that app. You need to do some investigation first as to how it got on your laptop. If it's a company laptop, ask helpdesk.

Another option is to look into the max memory setting for SQL Server. You can lower that, but be wary that when you do it may affect performance. So it really depends on "what" is accessing it, as Gail previously mentioned in regards to removing it.
